Intoxicated on the double

Two convictions for public order offences were recorded at the District Court against Michael O’Brien (51), address given as Ozanam House, Thomas Street, Wexford.

The first occurred on the evening of May 24 when Garda Kevin Larkin was called to the Ozanam House hostel in response a report of a highly intoxicated resident. The culprit turned out to be O’Brien, whom the garda discovered in an unsteady state on Thomas Street, where he was arrested.

On the night of June 1, it was the turn of Garda Eamonn Cahill to investigate when hostel staff called in to report that the same man had been refused entry to the hostel.

On this occasion, O’Brien was so intoxicated that he was a danger to himself and he was once more apprehended and brought to the barracks.

The accused man was not in court as Judge Gerard Haughton handed down two fines of €200 each.
