Fundraiser hits all the right notes

MEM­BERS of the Wex­ford Light Opera So­ci­ety lifted the roof of Barntown Church re­cently dur­ing a fundrais­ing con­cert.

The con­cert which is the group’s fi­nal fundraiser to help fund its up­com­ing pro­duc­tion of Sweeney Todd had some­thing for young and old.

Pat Lawlor of the Wex­ford Light Opera So­ci­ety said the con­cert had been or­gan­ised pri­mar­ily by Mar­garet Gurhy and was a great suc­cess.

‘It was a fan­tas­tic night and we were de­lighted with the turnout. We had some great feed­back from peo­ple as well.

‘On the night we had per­for­mances from some of our most es­tab­lished mem­bers such as Tony Carty and Ge­orge Lawlor as well as our newer mem­bers like Amy Richards and Nathan Fitz­patrick. I think we of­fered a great se­lec­tion of va­ri­ety and ev­ery­one was pleased.’

The mem­bers of Wex­ford Light Opera So­ci­ety were also joined by guest soloists from the Rathangan Va­ri­ety Group.
