South East group help ease crisis

- By ANNA HAYES

MEMBERS OF the South East Milk Producers did their bit to help ease the fodder crisis last week when, in cooperation with Strathroy Dairy, they sourced two loads of haylage and whole crop wheat from Scotland.

The fodder arrived in Wexford on Friday and was loaded onto trucks in Ballycogley, for distribution to members of the South East Milk Producers group.

The group represents a large number of dairy farmers in counties Wexford, Wicklow and Carlow who supply their milk to Strathroy.

A spokesperson for the group stressed their appreciation for the help received and especially the early payment made on the March milk, saying that this gesture would help greatly to relieve the financial stress that farmers are in.
