Wexfordians in Berlin

-

THE WEXFORD involvement was very strong in Berlin recently when the Setanta G.A.A. club in the German city hosted the country’s, and possibly continental Europe’s, first youth hurling tournament.

Teams from throughout Germany descended on Berlin for the successful event, and they were assisted by Wexford G.A.A. Games Promotion Officer Frank Devereux, a member of the Ferns St. Aidan’s club.

He delivered a full programme of training workshops for coaches and youth players alike on the Saturday, before the tournament itself was staged 24 hours later.

A shirt signed by the Wexford hurling squad was among the main attractions over the weekend, and the Berlin organisers were praised by all for their hard work.

The club Chairman, Martin Bailey, and the Youth Officer, Sinéad Kavanagh, both hail from the Model county, and Sinéad was also appointed as the German national Youth Officer recently.
