South East boxers all set for first competition
BRIDGETOWN BASED South East Boxing Club will be holding its first tournament in the Stella Maris Centre, Kilmore Quay on Sunday, May 20 from 2 p.m. The club, which launched in 2015, now has over 40 young members and is growing consistently.
Head Coach Dom Robinson explained that there would be 15 match cards on the day, ranging in age, saying: ‘All are welcome to attend the event. It’s very important for these young boxers to be supported by their commuity at this stage in their careers.’
The club is currently based in Mill Lane in Bridgetown and will be expanding their property in the coming months due to the high level of interest in the club.
Local county councillor, Mick Roche, who is a founding member of the boxing club, welcomed the event and said that he was proud to see the club developing so much.
‘It’s great to see this boxing club becoming a hub for young people in the South Wexford area. We have some fantastic boxers and I can see this club becoming very successful in the future. We are extremely grateful to local businesses who have sponsored this event and we always welcome sponsorship from kind donors.’
