Keane concert in the Quay

Wexford People - - NEWS -

The award-winning singer and musician Sean Keane will play a gig in the Stella Maris Centre in Kilmore Quay on Friday, May 25.

Known for his distinctive sean-nós style voice, the County Galway musician and brother of famous Irish singer Dolores Keane, was described as ‘the greatest musical find of the 90’s’ by the London Independent.

Growing up in a musical family, he was taught his first song by Dolores at the age of six when he won his first Fleadh Ceoil.

He learnt sean-nós from his mother and his aunts. By the age of 13, he had no less than 13 All-Irelands for traditional singing under his belt and he was also an accomplished whistle, flute and uilleann pipes players.

A founder member of the group Arcady with Sharon Frances Black and Sharon Shannon, he has a unique style and unforgettable voice which lend themselves to traditional Irish music, folk and even country and blues songs.

He has performed in venues all over the world with his band and has released 11 solo albums and collaborated on five others.

Tickets at €25 are available from the Stella Maris Centre, email manager@stellamariscentre.com.
