BOXING EVENT

St Michael’s boxing club, New Ross are hosting a boxing event in Clonroche Community Hall on Saturday, May 26. Doors open at 7.30 p.m. with 10 top class bouts featuring local talent. MC for the night is South East Radio’s Alan Corcoran.

CARDS

The weekly 30 card game continues in the community centre this Friday, May 25, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on the night will be Cait Bradley, Josephine Hendrick and Betty O’Shea. Catering on Friday, June 1, will be Mary Kirwan, Betty Cullen and Lorna Komsa.

Catering on Friday, June 8, will be Maureen Bradley, Linda Duffy and Denise Harler. Proceeds going to parish funds.

Card winners on Friday, May 11, were: Matty Sullivan, Pat Murphy, Matt O’Neill, John Hanley, Richie Murphy, Paddy Finn, Pat Quinn and Willie Kehoe.

AUTISM COLLECTION THANKS

The annual church gate collection for Irish Autism Society was taken up last weekend. The total donated came to €203. Sincere thanks to all those who made a contributi­on.

COLAISTE ABBAIN NEWS

Well done to our athletes who competed in the South Leinster Track and Field competitio­ns at Waterford Regional Sports Centre. Sophie Codd took second place in the 300m, and stormed home in first place in the inter girls 8Om. Oscar Mac.

Gabhann was fifth in the final of the under-14 high jump. James Fitzpatric­k came sixth in the 500m and fourth in his 100m heat. Graham O’Reilly competed well in the under-16 200m and finished fourth in the Long Jump. Leon Sinnott narrowly missed out on a place in the inter boys 100m final.

A huge congratula­tions to Sam Muprhy, who a gold medal at the Leinster Swimming Championsh­ips, he came first in the 200m Freestyle.

Our sixth year Graduation Ceremony will take place on Thursday the 24th in St Abban’s Church at 11 a.m.

The TY and fifth year students had a fantastic day in Sheilbagga­n, surfing the waves and having fun.

FAMILY FUN EVENING

Adamstown National School are holding a ‘Family Fun Evening’ this Thursday, May 31 (weather permitting) in the school ground from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. With help from parents and the parents’ associatio­n they have put together a full programme of events. Face painting, Hamper raffle and split-the-pot, Fishing, bottle stall, Number shoot, Throwing wet sponges, Egg throwing, Giant Obstacle Course, wheel of fortune, book and Bric and brac stall, Chocolate Fountain, tea and refreshmen­ts, Lucky Dip and much more. All proceeds going to school funds.

The school is celebratin­g its 70th year this year and we will have a display of old records etc., on show. Your support will be really appreciate­d. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
