CLONGEEN GRAVEYARD

A recording of the inscriptions on the memorial gravestones in the Old Graveyard in Clongeen is reaching its final stages. During this recording, we noticed that there are quite a number of people from surrounding areas buried in this graveyard. Unfortunately some inscriptions have become illegible due to weathering.

If you suspect that a gravestone, which was erected to remember someone in your family, may not be legible enough to be recorded, we would like to hear from you. Your help is vital, if a headstone no longer displays the information that your ancestors wished to preserve, when they were erecting it. This information could be of great benefit to people in the future, who wish to trace their ancestors. Ring 087 2363903.

It takes great effort and a lot of help to run a successful day at the track, this cannot be done without the voluntary help from our parents and coaches and older athletes. This help comes in many forms from ensuring the athletes are registered, warmedup and at the events on time. The club must also provide helpers to assist in the running of the day. Volunteers on the day were: Nick O’Hanlon, Gillian Kelly, Tony Kelly, John Hanlon, Clare O’Morchoe, Brónagh O’Hanlon.

Thank you to everyone on another successful day at the track.
