Lunchtime con­cert to take place in the Fri­ary

THERE will be a lunchtime so­prano con­cert at St Fran­cis Fri­ary on Satur­day, June 16.

The con­cert which will fea­ture Ir­ish so­pra­nos Pa­tri­cia Gog­gins and Ruth Gal­lagher as well as pi­anist Eithne Cor­ri­gan.

The trio will present a pro­gramme of vo­cal duets from Mon­teverdi, Mozart, Of­fen­bach, Moore and Sue Fur­long and the con­cert will also fea­ture the CWSM Quar­tet.

Tick­ets for the con­cert which take place at 1 p.m. are €10. It is €5 for those un­der 18 and tick­ets are avail­able on the door.

Pa­tri­cia Gog­gins is a Limerick-born so­prano and vo­cal teacher. She sang soloist with Vo­care un­der the late Sue Fur­long, with the Bun­ratty Cas­tle Singers, and has an AIMS award for her role in Verdi’s Mac­beth. She was also a win­ner of the Ark­low Chal­lenge Cup at the Ark­low Mu­sic Fes­ti­val.

Ruth Gal­lagher, a Done­gal-born so­prano, grad­u­ated with an MA in Per­for­mance at WIT Water­ford. She has per­formed many solo recitals and sang solo with var­i­ous choirs in the south­east. Ruth per­formed as soloist in work­shops of Eric Sweeney’s opera The In­vader and in North West Opera’s pro­duc­tion of Hansel and Gre­tel.

Eithne Cor­ri­gan, a grad­u­ate of TCD, stud­ied pi­ano and vi­olin at the RIAM, Dublin. As a repeti­teur she has worked with Dublin Master­classes, Dublin Grand Opera and Wex­ford Fes­ti­val Opera, and as an ac­com­pa­nist col­lab­o­rates with many mu­si­cians and mu­si­cal so­ci­eties in Wex­ford.

This is CWSM Quar­tet’s first pub­lic ap­pear­ance and fea­tures Ais­ling Gould­son, Lara Guthrie, Ciarán English and Beth Pow­ell. The quar­tet is di­rected by Geral­dine Ma­hon.
