Joy as Our Lady’s Island man is ordained a deacon
A Wexford man was ordained a deacon in Maynooth Seminary recently.
29-year-old Ricky O’Connor from Our Lady’s Island has been studying in Maynooth for the past five years. Last week he was ordained a deacon and next year, following his final year of study, he will be ordained a priest.
Ricky’s proud parents, James and Beverly, attended his ordination as did his brother Michael and his grandfather, Paddy O’Connor from Rosslare Harbour.
His younger brother Christy, who lives in England, wasn’t able to attend the ordination but sent his best wishes.
A former student at Bridgetown College Ricky had wanted to become a priest from his early teens and is the only Wexford seminarian in his year.
