Dance show is a big, brash tribute to rock
STUDENTS AT Wexford School of Ballet and Performing Arts took the stage of the National Opera House for their sold out production of ‘Ballet Rocks’ and provided a night of rip-roaring entertainment.
Featuring music from Bryan Adams, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Phil Collins, Rod Stewart and others the show was a nostalgic treat for parents in the audience!
For the younger members of the crowd, bands like Imagine Dragons and Muse provided the entertainment with special effects such as low lying smoke, concert lighting and visual effects.
Hundreds of dancers and singers played their part in the exciting show.
One of those performers, Sorcha Finn, was announced as the Student of the Year to much applause and celebration.
The school is now closed for the summer break. A week-long summer school will be held from August 13 and the new term will resume on August 27.
The school will present ‘Swan Lake’ on December 15 in the National Opera House and a group of dancers will perform in Disneyland Paris in August of next year.
Two new teachers will also join the team – Sorcha O’Connor and Karen Williams.
