GET WELL WISHES

Best wishes for a speedy return to full health to the people from the area who are sick at home or in hospital. For security reasons and to maintain their privacy, their names will not be published unless requested by themselves or their next-of-kin. Don’t forget that on the First Friday of every month the Rosary will be recited in St Mochua’s Church, at 7.30 p.m. for the intentions of the sick of the parish. Everyone is welcome to attend.

PRIMARY SCHOOL SUCCESS

The Rackard League Football team from the primary schools of Oulart and the Ballagh will contest the Roinn C County Final in St Patrick’s Park on Thursday, November 8, beginning at 7 p.m. Best of luck to the panel of players and to the teachers in charge, Ms Delaney and Mr McDonald. Lots of support would be greatly appreciate­d.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD

Nuala Mythen and Angela Lawless are on reading duty on November 10/11. Maeve Whelan and Noel Doyle will read on weekend of November 18 and Kathryn O’Dowd and Pauline Rice are on reading duty on the last weekend of November.

RACE TO BE MAYOR

The GAA Mayoral Election is well under way and the next few months will see lots of fundraisin­g activities organised for the candidates. Following the success of the first bingo in Oulart Community Centre Phil Redmond’s team are running another bingo session on Sunday, November 11, while a week later, on Saturday, November 17, Martin ‘Sponger’ Fortune’s team will hold bingo in Bob’s Bars, starting at 7.30 p.m. Sponger’s team are also organising a ‘Come Dine With Me’ to be held on Saturday, December 1. We would encourage as many as possible to support the events as all the proceeds go to Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club. Please follow the Facebook page for more details.

SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratula­tions to the most recent winner of Scoil Mochua’s split-the-pot – Caitlin Dempseywho won €109. The winner of the Hamper was Clodagh Murphy while Jane Jackman won the Tin of Biscuits.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

A Christmas Fair will be held in the Ballagh Community Centre on Sunday, November 18, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Anyone interested in having a Table at the Christmas Fair (at a cost of €20) is asked to contact Bessie Kehoe at 087 2358835.The proceeds will go towards refurbishm­ent of the hall.

CAMOGIE

The under-18 camogie team defeated Glynn-Barntown last week to qualify for the county final against Rathnure. The decider will be played on November 10. At the time of writing the venue had not been confirmed.

UNDER-14 HURLING

The boys remain unbeaten in the Martin Storey Tournament, their most recent success being in the Third Round against Rathgarogu­e-Cushinstow­n. Their next opponents are St Anne’s, Rathangan.
