Schoolgirls League

New Ross Town seconds finished out their U-12 Division 2B campaign when overcoming Ferns 4-3 in a very closely-fought and entertaining encounter.

Aimee O’Lone, Aoife O’Leary, Saoirse O’Neill and Ciara Nolan all scored for Town, while Ellie Kate Larkin (two) and Claire O’Connor replied for Ferns.

The only games left in the schoolgirls’ league are the games between Moyne and Aughrim, with the winners to play North End, as they battle it out for runners-up spot in U-14 Division 1.

Women’s League

North End United collected their first three points of the season in the Premier Division when they battled hard to overcome Forth Celtic on a 3-2 scoreline.

Rianna Cullen scored both goals for Forth, while Deirdre Byrne, Danielle Chin and Niamh Tormey were all on target for a determined North End side.

Division 2 produced two excellent games, with Fastnet Rovers drawing 2-2 with leaders Corach Ramblers after Rscoring late to secure a point. Tracy Sinnott and Niamh Miller scored for Ramblers while Becky Furlong and Joanne Jordan grabbed the vital goals for Fastnet.

Tombrack took over at the top of the table when two late goals saw them overcome near neighbours Bunclody 3-1. Alma Morris gave Bunclody the lead but Sarah Merrigan had the sides level on 20 minutes, and the game seemed to be heading for a draw until a last-minute lob from Sarah put Tombrack in front. Two minutes into injury time, a weaving run from Shannon McGovern saw her score to wrap up the three points.

New Ross Town kept the pressure on leaders St. Cormac’s in Division 3 when coming away from Wexford Bohs 3-0 winners.

Kellie O’Neill, Cria Langton and Jenny Canning scored the vital goals which keeps their title ambitions alive while also securing promotion to Division 2.
