Wicklow People (Arklow) - - NEWS -

THE members of Carnew Community Art Group were delighted to be joined by a large crowd of well-wishers at Carnew Community Care on Saturday last as they opened their annual summer exhibition.

President of South Wicklow Drama Festival Mick Byrne launched the exhibition and he hoped the artists will stage a similar exhibition as a fringe event during the All Ireland Drama Finals next April.

The group meets at Carnew Community Care on Fridays between 10 a.m. and midday.

Four of the works featured were painted by Joan Kinsella, a member of the group who passed away during the year.

MC Mary Doran said that the two hours spent with the group each week go by very fast. Tributes were paid to their tutor Sinead Ryan for her encouragement. Thanks also went to Sr Mary who leaves Carnew Community Care shortly, and to Sheila Kirwan who retires soon.

View the works until Friday, July 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., except Thursday when it opens at midday.
