Superhero run a great success
A SUCCESSFUL recent Superhero run in County Wicklow saw over €7,000 raised for Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin.
Organiser Wayne O’Driscoll paid tribute to everyone who took part in the event and to the main event sponsor Gorey Credit Union which recently contributed the sum of €3,000 to the fundraiser.
The presentation was made at the Avoca branch office. Wayne said there was a great atmosphere on the day with lots of entertainment at the registration point at The Beehive including bouncy castles supplied by Bounch for Fun, Arklow and music by local performer Aoibhín.
He extended thanks to Automatic Plastics, Tinahely for their generous donation and for entering the largest group into the race, to Kia Ora Farm, Tinahely Farm Shop and Pirate’s Cove, Courtown.
He said that without the support of the Gardaí, Order of Malta for first aid, Wicklow Sports Partnership, Pop up Races who timed the race, the event would not have been possible.
‘I just want to thank everyone who had anything to do with this event and the final amount raised for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital was €7,673 so everyone should be so proud that this money is now at work helping save lives of sick children. I am over the moon with the support and I can’t thank you all enough,’ he said.
Wayne is planning another summer running fundraiser for the hospital on Brittas Bay beach on August 20. Distances of 5k/10k will be open to participants but this will primarily be just for fun.
