Daz­zling ar­ray of en­ter­tain­ment and fun for all the fam­ily

THIS year’s Seabreeze Fes­ti­val is just days away and Arklow is in for a treat.

The an­nual event will cul­mi­nate in three days of great fam­ily en­ter­tain­ment through­out the town cen­tre from Fri­day, July 14 to Sun­day 16. This year’s com­mit­tee is as fol­lows: Colm Moules – Chair­man, Mary Burke – Sec­re­tary, Trea­surer – Tina O’Sul­li­van, PRO – Colm Moules, Safety Of­fi­cer –Vinny Byrne, Com­mit­tee; Tommy An­nes­ley, Dicey Reilly, Sharon Whe­lan, Jim Hoey, Donal Mol­loy, Noeleen Daven­port, Therese Kelly and they have been hard at work to bring together an event with some­thing for ev­ery­one.

The or­gan­is­ers have pulled out all the stops to make Seabreeze Fes­ti­val 2017 a real fam­ily friendly event with en­ter­tain­ment and at­trac­tions for young and old.

The Swing­ing Pubs con­test has been un­der­way for the past week and will con­clude on Thurs­day, July 13 in The Bridge Ho­tel where the fi­nal­ists from each round of the com­pe­ti­tion will face off to win the 2017 ti­tle.

Fes­ti­val week­end will open on Fri­day evening with an ar­ray of fun events, a high­light of which is al­ways the Trade Winds Burger-Eat­ing com­pe­ti­tion.

There will also be a demon­stra­tion from the Arklow Com­mu­nity First Re­spon­ders as well as a Bat­tle of the Gi­ant Games in the park. Live mu­sic will be of­fered by Bare Bones, rock and blues band. Satur­day will see fes­ti­val fever con­tinue with events in­clud­ing the ABG Fes­ti­val of Foot­ball, the Euro­pean March­ing Bands and Drum Corps Com­pe­ti­tion in Arklow Celtic grounds, Dainty Bak­ery Baby Show, Busk­ing Com­pe­ti­tion, Drum Corps Rock the Town, The Great Pint Chal­lenge and live mu­sic from The Kilken­nys, Ray Dolan and Small Town Cri­sis.

On Sun­day don’t miss the pop­u­lar Pig Derby, WWF Wrestling, McDon­ald’s Teddy Bear Pic­nic, Mid­way Chilli Mad­ness, Car Push and Mu­si­cal Chairs as well as evening en­ter­tain­ment from Wise Guys, Grav­ity and Glen Art.

There will also be the ever-pop­u­lar Fire­works dis­play to close the fes­ti­val on Sun­day evening.

The 2017 Seabreeze Princess Ellen Doyle will be present at many of the events as well as Mr Seabreeze Owen Done­gan.
