Ex­hi­bi­tion at lo­cal li­brary

Ark­low Li­brary is cur­rently host­ing a cen­te­nary ex­hi­bi­tion of paint­ings by Ark­low Born artist Ge­orge Camp­bell RHA (1917-1979).

The ex­hi­bi­tion fol­lows on from a very suc­cess­ful event or­gan­ised last May by Ark­low Mu­nic­i­pal Dis­trict Coun­cil where they un­veiled a plaque at the birth place of Ge­orge Camp­bell on St Pa­trick’s Ter­race Ark­low.

This event has now been short­listed for Cham­bers Ire­land Ex­cel­lence in Lo­cal Govern­ment Awards for ‘Com­mem­o­rat­ing the 100th Birth­day and Birth­place of Artist Ge­orge Camp­bell RHA (1917 – 1979)’ un­der the Her­itage and Built En­vi­ron­ment cat­e­gory. Ark­low li­brary will now build on this suc­cess by host­ing 24 paint­ings by this renowned artist.

The ex­hi­bi­tion is free to view dur­ing nor­mal li­brary open­ing hours un­til Septem­ber 30.
