Preview at Mermaid of ‘Nora’ play

Wicklow People (Arklow) - - NEWS -

MERMAID Arts Centre is set to preview a new week before it moves on to Dublin Theatre Festival.

The Corn Exchange will present ‘Nora’ by Belinda McKeon, a new play inspired by Ibsen’s masterpiece ‘A Doll’s House’ which reimagines this exploration of honesty and power for a post-truth world.

In the play it’s the year 2025 and it’s a dangerous world for those who can’t afford to protect themselves. This house keeps safe a marriage, a partnership, a life of success and ease, a priceless collection and a daughter who has wanted for nothing. Things seem perfect as a power couple prepares for a glitzy party among the art-world elite. But when the secret upon which this life is built threatens to push through the polished surface, questions about what is real and what is not can no longer be ignored.

The preview shows take place at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 21 to 23. Tickets cost €18/€16 and are available from the box office at the Mermaid.

Venetia Bowe, who plays Emmy, and Annie Ryan, who plays Nora.
