Spon­sored walk for Lak­ers

Lak­ers An­nual Spon­sored Walk will take place on Saturday, Oc­to­ber 14, in Glendalough.

There are three cat­e­gories of walks and you can choose the one that is most suited to your level of fit­ness and come along and have some fun.

Walk A is climb­ing The Spinc, this is a is a medium to dif­fi­cult hill walk, the dis­tance is 9 Km and takes ap­prox. 3 hours The start time for this walk is 12 mid­day, with reg­is­tra­tion at 11.30 a.m. and good walk­ing gear is re­quired.

Walk B is walk­ing the Grey Road which is a lovely Wood­land Walk with a slight in­cline. The dis­tance is 4 km and will take ap­prox. 1.5 to 2 hours. The start time is 1.30 p.m. reg­is­tra­tion from 1 p.m. and good walk­ing gear is re­quired.

Walk C is a very easy flat walk along the Green Road, this walk is wheel­chair friendly. The dis­tance is 3 km and will take no longer than 1 hour. The start time is 1.30 p.m. and reg­is­tra­tion from 1 p.m. All three walks com­mence from Glendalough Up­per Lake Car Park by kind per­mis­sion of National Parks and Wildlife Ser­vices.

Lak­ers So­cial & Recre­ational Club is a com­mu­nity-based sports, so­cial and recre­ation club for chil­dren and adults with an in­tel­lec­tual dis­abil­ity. The club pro­vides a wide range of sport­ing and ed­u­ca­tional ser­vices to its 280 mem­bers aged 5 to 75. The funds raised from this event will them to run their daily ac­tiv­i­ties. Please note all three walks will take place re­gard­less of the weather and there is a €4 charge per car for the car park so re­mem­ber to bring some change.
