Council look at buying The 56

Wicklow People (Arklow) - - NEWS -

ARKLOW Municipal District is exploring the possibility of purchasing the former Kitty’s bar premises at 56 Main Street.

The property has been on the market through a receiver for some time and the members discussed the benefits of purchasing the site at their November meeting.

District engineer sais that Arklow Municipal District needs to make a decision whether or not to aim for purchase, and if so, thet need to seek approval from the chief executive. ‘There is very good value in it,’ he said. Cathaoirleach Tommy Annesley said that if the council purchased the building and cleared the site, it would open up the view of the river, but that no decision had been reached on possible plans, should a sale go ahead.
