Councillors want an increase in staff

Wicklow People (Arklow) - - NEWS -

STAFFING levels acrosss Arklow Municipal District, both in the Arklow office and on the outdoor team were a bone of contention amongst the local councillors at their recent meeting as they enquired when further resources will be approved for the area.

Cllr Pat Fitzgerald said that more staff is needed to run the Arklow office and that ‘staff are chopping and changing like the new time in Wicklow’.

He also questioned why calls for Arklow Municipal District automatically connect to Wicklow County Council and then have to be transferred back to Arklow.

‘It is creating a bad image and it is very frustrating for people in Arklow,’ he said.

Cllr Pat Kennedy asked officials to make it a priority and to have someone sort the matter out once and for all.

Meanwhile members were informed that a number of new outdoor staff have been appointed and that some members have been promoted to the role of ganger.

The members agreed that all the staff are dedicated and do great work, but said that they need more manpower.
