REV­ENUE col­lected €16.7 mil­lion in prop­erty tax from 53,100 prop­er­ties in County Wick­low last year, with a com­pli­ance rate of 98.9 per cent.

The pre­vi­ous year, the sum col­lected was €16.8 mil­lion from 52,600 prop­er­ties, and a com­pli­ance rate of 98.6.

In neigh­bour­ing County Wex­ford, €12.5 mil­lion was col­lected from 64,800 prop­er­ties.

In County Car­low it was €3.8 mil­lion from 23,000 prop­er­ties, and in Dun Laoghaire Rath­down, €43.9 mil­lion from 103,500 prop­er­ties.

In County Wick­low, there was manda­tory de­duc­tion at source in 2.5 per cent of cases.

18,000 cases were de­ferred, 2.9 per cent, and 13,000 ex­empt. Ex­emp­tion can be granted in a num­ber of cases, in­clud­ing long term illness, nurs­ing homes, and char­i­ta­ble ac­tiv­i­ties.

The value bands dif­fer greatly in neigh­bour­ing Wick­low, Wex­ford and Dun Laoghaire Rath­down.

59.1 of the prop­er­ties in DLR were val­ued at more than €300,0000. In County Wex­ford that fig­ure was 1.5 per cent.

In County Wick­low, 15.1 per cent of prop­er­ties were val­ued over €300,000. The val­u­a­tions were made in 2012, with a re­val­u­a­tion ex­pected in 2019.

The fig­ures were re­vealed by Rev­enue last Fri­day, and re­vealed to­tal prop­erty tax re­ceipts of €477 mil­lion na­tion- wide in re­spect of 2017. This in­cludes al­most €3 mil­lion in House­hold Charge ar­rears. Com­ment­ing on the pub­li­ca­tion of these lat­est sta­tis­tics, the Col­lec­tor-Gen­eral, Mr. Michael Glad­ney said: ‘There is a con­tin­u­ing high com­pli­ance rate for

LPT, cur­rently 97 per cent, and the vast ma­jor­ity of prop­erty own­ers fully com­ply with their pay­ment obli­ga­tions ei­ther in a sin­gle pay­ment, or with phased pay­ments.’

The dead­line to pay in full by card or cheque is to­day, Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 10.

Prop­erty own­ers who want to pay in full by An­nual Debit Author­ity (an elec­tronic cheque), and have their pay­ment de­ducted on March 21, must con­firm this with Rev­enue by to­day, Wed­nes­day.
