Walk for Wellness in aid of Cancer Support
A group of Arklow ladies commenced a six-week ‘Walk for Wellness’ in aid of Arklow Cancer Support.
Now in its third year, the walk is a weekly gathering that encourages local people to get out and about in January while raising money for a worthy cause.
There was a great turnout for the first night and organiser Liz Bermingham of LJB Wellness, Arklow was delighted to welcome some new and some familiar faces.
The walkers covered a circuit through the town and back to the starting point at the Arklow Cancer Support office on St Mary’s Road.
Wall for Wellness is designed to cater for participants of all fitness levels and the aim is that regardless of your level at the beginning, that you will notice some improvement by the sixth week and hopefully feel more confident to get out walking or running after the course finishes.
It’s not too late to join in and participants can go solo, with a friend, push a buggy or walk their dog. All are welcome and the more that take part, the more funding is raised for Arklow Cancer Support.
The walk starts at 7.30 p.m. every Monday and costs €20 for six weeks. Alternatively you can pay as go you for €3 per night.
Each €20 raised covers the transportation costs of a patient for treatment, one of the most in demand services offered by the local organisation.
