Lions serve up a glitzy lunch
THERE was glitz and glamour aplenty at the Woodenbridge Hotel on Sunday as the Arklow Lions Club hosted yet another Women’s Little Christmas lunch.
Over 170 guests attended the event which marked the end of the festive season and the traditional day off for the lady of the house.
‘We were very happy with the attendance. It was a sell-out long before the day and we had some ladies asking to book for next year as they enjoyed it so much,’ said Imelda Riley of Arklow Lions Club.
The event always inspires guests to dress to impress and prizes were given to the best-dressed in three categories.
Last year’s winner Melissa O’Beirne had the job of judging and selected Shannon O’Neill as the spring winner, Liz Bermingham as the summer winner and Nancy Quinn as the autumn winner.
Bernie Fitzgerald was the lucky winner of the first raffle prize of an original painting by local artist Eileen Galvin.
The door prize, sponsored by the Woodenbridge Hotel, was won by Maura Thorpe.
Following the meal, there was lots of musical entertainment courtesy of Pat McCauley as well as Doreen Wixted and Bebe Fitzgerald of the Arklow Ukelele Band.
‘We wish to thank everyone who attended and who helped to make the event such a success, including the Woodenbridge Hotel, and the entertainers. We are already looking forward to next year,’ said Imelda.
