En­gines stolen from sail­ing club boat­yard

THREE boat en­gines were stolen overnight from the boat­yard at Wick­low Sail­ing Club.

The theft was dis­cov­ered on Sun­day morn­ing, March 11.

Who­ever was re­spon­si­ble cut through a wire fence in or­der to gain ac­cess.

All three en­gines were out­board mo­tors and were be­ing stored in the yard. They in­clude a Mariner 40, Suzuki 25 and a Yamaha 15, with a com­bined cost of around €12,000.

Gar­daí are seek­ing out any CCTV footage from the har­bour area and are also ap­peal­ing for po­ten­tial wit­nesses to come for­ward.

A Garda spokesper­son said: ‘If any­one no­ticed any strange ac­tiv­ity in and around Wick­low Sail­ing Club over re­cent days then they should con­tact Wick­low Garda Sta­tion on (0404) 67107. If any­one is ap­proached about pur­chas­ing any boat en­gines match­ing the de­scrip­tion of those stolen then they should also con­tact their near­est Garda Sta­tion.’
