Students host fundraiser for diocesan trip
FOUR fifth year students from Colaiste Bhride Carnew recently held a coffee morning in support of their efforts to volunteer as helpers in the annual Ferns Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes in May.
Sarah Mulhall, Emily Parle, Fiona Boland and Eoin Kavanagh hope to accompany and help the elderly, disabled and sick pilgrims from May 17 to 22, include assisting at meal times and helping with a variety of tasks as required.
They are busy fundraising in order to cover the cost of their accomodation and flights and, to that end, hosted a coffee morning in Murphy’s Hotel, Tinahely, which raised over €1,300.
‘We are overwhelmed with the support we received for this coffee morning fund- raiser in Tinahely. Thanks to Murphy’s Hotel for the use of the function room. There was a large selection of delicious homemade cakes on offer, thanks to the generosity of all who baked. We would like to thank the sponsors, supporters and the many kind people who helped us in any way with this fundraising initiative,’ the group said.
