Lip Sync Leg­ends pre­pare to do bat­tle

FUNDRAISER IN ARK­LOW THIS WEEK­END IN AID OF THREE LO­CAL GROUPS

THIS Satur­day night at the Ark­low Bay Ho­tel, the cul­mi­na­tion of months of work by a group of vol­un­teers will come to fruition, with the first ever Ark­low Lip Sync Leg­ends event tak­ing place.

Twelve acts have been un­der­go­ing a rig­or­ous train­ing pro­gramme with pro­fes­sional chore­og­ra­phers, and will take to the stage in aid of Ark­low United Foot­ball Club, Ark­low Com­mu­nity Ac­tion Re­source Cen­tre and Ark­low Can­cer Sup­port.

The fundraiser is part of Ark­low United FC’s 40th an­niver­sary cel­e­bra­tions, and pro­ceeds of the event will go to­wards grounds de­vel­op­ment at Fern­dale Park, with a pro­por­tion di­vided equally be­tween the two lo­cal char­i­ties.

‘The club has been grow­ing phe­nom­e­nally over the past num­ber of years, and we need to con­tinue to in­vest in de­vel­op­ment of our fa­cil­i­ties to keep up with de­mand. This event is made pos­si­ble by the gen­eros­ity of the lo­cal busi­nesses who have come on board through spon­sor­ship, par­tic­u­larly To­pline Boland’s Ark­low, our main event spon­sor,’ said Gor­don Moules from Ark­low United FC.

Prize money of €1,000 is up for grabs for the win­ning act, which will be se­lected through a com­bi­na­tion of au­di­ence and judges’ votes. The judg­ing panel will in­clude lo­cal pro dancer Laura Gan­non, of Laura’s Health and Dance Fit­ness, jour­nal­ist and broad­caster Va­lerie Cox, best-sell­ing au­thor Adele O’Neill and ac­claimed Ir­ish Tenor Ross Scan­lon.

A lim­ited num­ber of tick­ets are avail­able from TRTV on Main Street in Ark­low and each of the acts are ac­cept­ing spon­sor­ship. For more de­tails call 086 1633253.
