Full steam ahead with festive plans

Wicklow People (Arklow) - - NEWS -

WITH Hallowe’en now over, Arklow Municipal District is turning its attention to Christmas and is inviting local businesses to get involved in creating a wonderful festive atmosphere in the town.

Municipal district staff have been working hard throughout the year to build on the new lights purchased last year and create a greater festive display for locals to enjoy.

Plans are under way for new festoon LED lights for the Riverwalk and South Quay, a new cross-over feature on Bridge Street, Christmas lights along the railings of the bridge, and features at both Ferrybank and the Wexford Road.

In addition, the district has purchased a quantity of 40cm green topiary balls which are fitted with battery-operated, six-hour timer lights and which can be hung on the flower basket brackets already erected around the town. These are currently on display at the courthouse, the entrance to the municipal district offices at Castlepark and at the library on Main Street.

These topiary balls are being offered to local businesses at a reduced cost of €50. Any business interested in purchasing one can contact Arklow Municipal District on ArklowMD@ wicklowcoco.ie or 0402 42700.
