Wicklow People (Arklow) - - NEWS -

FILMMAKER Terence White has been unveiled as the Artist in Residence for 2018/2019 at the Courthouse Arts Centre in Tinahely.

Terence has made numerous short narrative films and documentaries in the past and has worked on several projects with the Courthouse previously.

In 2004, he received Wicklow County Council funding to make a short film with the Courthouse youth theatre group and in 2006 he was awarded an Arts Council funded commission to make ten short documentaries to mark the 10th anniversary of the opening of the arts centre. He was recently commissioned by Wexford Arts Centre to make a short documentary about cultural heritage, funded by the government’s Creative Ireland initiative.

While Terence is working on several projects during the residency, his main focus will be a feature film screenplay. He plans to have the script complete by the end of April next year.

‘I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity the Courthouse Arts Centre has provided me to progress my filmmaking practice,’ he said. ‘I am able to allocate more time to my creative work each week, thanks to the financial support from the Courthouse, and the arts centre is a very supportive space to work in.’

Artistic Director at the Courthouse Hannah Mullan said she was delighted to welcome Terence as Film Artist in Residence for the next twelve months.

‘Assisting in the development of local artists is central to the ethos of The Courthouse and I very much hope that he will enjoy his time working here,’ she said.
