Sixty-bed nursing home for Donard is given the green light
PERMISSION has been granted for a large nursing home in Donard consisting of 60 beds and eight dormer houses.
The development includes a single storey nursing home with 60 beds and eight dormer houses which consist of four sets of semi detached dormers.
The application in the name of Ted Flynn was lodged with Wicklow County Council in December of last year and received the green-light by planners last week.
Cllr Edward Timmins, the Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, has welcomed the development.
‘It is a facility which is needed in west Wicklow. There is already a nursing home in Dunlavin which has been running very successfully and is a great facility.
‘This new nursing home will be located in the beautiful surroundings of Donard and will provide an extra facility for the west, which is a part of the county which is sadly often overlooked.’
The development will be located at Donard Demesne West. The application also sought recessed entrance and accommodation roads to serve the proposed development and connection to public foul sewer and water mains.
