AN unusual take on a wellknown landmark has secured a local amateur photographer a coveted spot in the Top Oil 2018 calendar.

Susanna Braswell from Wicklow town won the People’s Choice award with her quirky image of a vintage teddy bear gazing out the window at the beautiful gardens of Powerscourt in Enniskerry (right).

Susanna, who is a member of Wicklow Photography Club, was one of just 11 finalists selected from over 2,000 entries to compete for the People’s Choice slot in the calendar.

Susanna captured her image at Tara’s Palace Museum of Childhood, which is located upstairs at Powerscourt House. The museum is home to Ireland’s largest period doll’s house and a large selection of vintage and historic toys.

The museum is staffed by volunteers and all profits from admissions and birthday parties go to children’s charities in Ireland.

Susanna took the picture during a birthday party held at the museum for her own daughter. She is especially delighted that that publication of her photo will help to bring the charity work of the volunteers at Tara’s Palace Museum to a wider audience.
