Charity extends thanks for local support
A CONCERT held in Wicklow town at the end of September has raised over €1,800 for the development aid charity Team Hope.
The concert took place in the Grand Hotel and featured the Unity Gospel Choir and a special performance by the Lisa Heenan School of Dance.
A total of €1,890 was raised on the night, leading to the Executive Administrator of Tea Hope, Theresa Wood, passing on her gratitude to the people of Wicklow for their support.
She said: ‘It’s thanks to the support of the local people that this amount was raised and this money will be used to help our general work throughout the year in our Community Development Projects.
‘These include clean water projects, international sponsorship programmes, volunteer teams and of course, our annual Christmas Shoebox Appeal.’
Team Hope have officially launched their Annual Christmas Shoebox Appeal for this year and everyone is invited to get involved and create a shoebox gift for a needy child in Eastern Europe and Africa.
Last year the charity collected 254,218 shoebox gifts and they are hoping to increase that number this year.
