Char­ity ex­tends thanks for lo­cal sup­port

A CON­CERT held in Wick­low town at the end of Septem­ber has raised over €1,800 for the de­vel­op­ment aid char­ity Team Hope.

The con­cert took place in the Grand Ho­tel and fea­tured the Unity Gospel Choir and a spe­cial per­for­mance by the Lisa Heenan School of Dance.

A to­tal of €1,890 was raised on the night, lead­ing to the Ex­ec­u­tive Ad­min­is­tra­tor of Tea Hope, Theresa Wood, pass­ing on her grat­i­tude to the peo­ple of Wick­low for their sup­port.

She said: ‘It’s thanks to the sup­port of the lo­cal peo­ple that this amount was raised and this money will be used to help our gen­eral work through­out the year in our Com­mu­nity De­vel­op­ment Projects.

‘These in­clude clean wa­ter projects, in­ter­na­tional spon­sor­ship pro­grammes, vol­un­teer teams and of course, our an­nual Christ­mas Shoe­box Ap­peal.’

Team Hope have of­fi­cially launched their An­nual Christ­mas Shoe­box Ap­peal for this year and ev­ery­one is in­vited to get in­volved and cre­ate a shoe­box gift for a needy child in Eastern Europe and Africa.

Last year the char­ity col­lected 254,218 shoe­box gifts and they are hop­ing to in­crease that num­ber this year.
