£527,777 Lotto win­ners keeps it quiet

Mys­tery still sur­rounds the iden­tity of the Lotto win­ner who fin­ished the year on a high note by col­lect­ing a cheque for £527,777 on Mon­day at lunchtime af­ter pur­chas­ing the win­ning ticket in Balt­in­glass.

Spec­u­la­tion in­ten­si­fied in west Wicklow dur­ing the early part of the week af­ter the win­ner, who chose t re­main anony­mous, was an­nounced as a mar­ried mother of five chil­dren who had bought her ticket in Balt­in­glass.

The lucky lady would only ad­mit to be­ing from ‘the Wicklow area’, leav­ing even the be­lief that she was from west Wicklow with a ques­tion mark over it.

While col­lect­ing the cheque, she told Lotto of­fi­cials that she in­tends to spend the money on her fam­ily, in­vest­ing her wind­fall to pro­vide se­cu­rity in the fu­ture.

But she said that some of the money would def­i­nitely be spent on a hol­i­day and on chang­ing the fam­i­lies car.

‘I know peo­ple talk about hav­ing sys­tems but I was in such a rush on the day that I lit­er­ally ran into the shop, wrote down 12 num­bers, paid the pound and ran out again.
