Wikipedia has made a brave stab at listing the worst songs of all time – using polls and lists produced by various magazines, TV channels and websites. It’s hardly a surprise that Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl’ (see above) is in there…but here are ten others you might not have expected to see:

True Spandau Ballet The single worst song in history, according to Guardian journalist Luke Williams. Could It Be Magic Take That NME’s Anthony Thornton reckoned this cover of Barry Manilow’s 1975 song was ‘the worst song in the world’. What’s Up 4 Non Blondes ‘Without question, the worst song of the 1990s’, wrote Tara Dublin in the Huffington Post. Life Des’ree Often voted No 1 in ‘worst lyrics’ polls, thanks to the lines, “I don’t want to see a ghost/It’s the sight that I fear most/I’d rather have a piece of toast/Watch the evening news” Baby Justin Bieber The Youtube video with the most dislikes, and the song voted worst ever in a Time Out poll. My Humps The Black Eyed Peas A ‘worst song’ in many lists, including Rolling Stone’s readers poll of all-time ‘most annoying songs’. Ice Ice Baby Vanilla Ice According to the Houston Press, this ‘set back the cause of white people in hip-hop a decade’. We Built This City Starship This No 1 hit has even been disowned by Starship’s co-lead singer Grace Slick. McArthur Park Richard Harris It was the winner of a 1969 Grammy, but this Jimmy Webb composition manages to figure prominently in most polls of worst songs.
