A re­minder that the Ac­tive Re­tire­ment Lunch club will take place on Fri­day, July 27, in Byrne and Woods at 1.30 p.m.


The an­nual Parish Ceme­tery Sun­day/Pat­tern Sun­day will take place on Sun­day, July 22. Please note that 11.30 a.m. Mass will be cel­e­brated in Round­wood Ceme­tery not in the church on this morn­ing. This Mass will be of­fered for all in­terred in the ceme­tery and will in­clude a bless­ing of the graves.


Join the Wick­low Moun­tains Na­tional Park Guides on a chil­dren’s na­ture walk at 11 a.m. on Wed­nes­days in July and Au­gust to ex­plore var­i­ous as­pects of the Na­tional Park. Suit­able for all age groups. An adult must stay with their chil­dren and be pre­pared to join in. No book­ing or charges ap­ply. Meet at the In­for­ma­tion Of­fice near the Up­per Lake in Glendalough.

Moneystown Com­mu­nity Cen­tre would like to thank every­one who helped and all who at­tended the barn dance to make it an­other suc­cess­ful and most en­joy­able evening.


Plans are well un­der way for the re­turn of the much loved Round­wood Fes­ti­val 2018 run­ning from Thurs­day, Au­gust 2, to Sun­day, Au­gust 5. So keep th­ese dates free and keep and eye on this space for more de­tails of what’s on and where.


Mary Davies is a renowned au­thor, gar­dener, his­to­rian, books ed­i­tor and a for­mer res­i­dent of Old­bridge. She has writ­ten ex­ten­sively over the years about the won­ders of Wick­low of times past and present. As part of the Bal­ty­nan­ima Pure Mile, we are de­lighted to in­clude this event where Mary will read a se­lec­tion of her writ­ings about Wick­low and there will be an op­por­tu­nity for the au­di­ence to ask her ques­tions. The talk will start at 3.30 p.m. in Round­wood Parish Hall on Satur­day, July 21, and will fin­ish by 5 p.m. This is a free event. All wel­come.


There will be a pil­grim­age to Our Lady’s Is­land on Sun­day, Au­gust 19, leav­ing Round­wood at 10 a.m. from the Parish Hall. Cost is €65 per per­son which in­cludes the bus, scones and din­ner. Money and names to Su­san at 087 76273032 be­fore Au­gust 1.

The next con­cert in Calary Church will take place at 8 p.m. on Sun­day, July 22, when Lorna Breen (so­prano), An­drew Gavin (tenor) and Mairead Hur­ley (ac­com­pa­nist) will per­form opera arias, Ir­ish airs and pieces by Gilbert and Sul­li­van. Lorna is an ac­com­plished young so­prano from County Wick­low.

This con­cert is be­ing held to raise much needed funds to sup­port Sis­ter Mary Killeen’s work for street chil­dren in the slums of Nairobi and there is the op­tion of a de­li­cious sup­per in the church room be­fore the con­cert starts. The sup­per will be­gin at 6 p.m. and the con­cert will start at 8 p.m.

There was no jack­pot win­ner in last week’s draw. The num­bers drawn were 9, 16, 25 and 27. There was four match-three win­ners Betty Fenelly, Martha Baker, Mary Ka­vanagh and Thomas Smyth. Next week’s jack­pot will be €17,200

The Round­wood Whizzers Walk­ing Group will now meet at the Knock­ra­heen en­trance (New­town Road R765) to the Up­per Vartry Reser­voir at 7 p.m. ev­ery Wed­nes­day for the sum­mer months.

There are now a range of walks to suit all lev­els of abil­ity. So do come along to walk at your own pace for ap­prox­i­mately one hour. All wel­come.

Adult ceili danc­ing classes are held ev­ery Wed­nes­day night in the parish hall from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Learn to solo dance and also group dances un­der the tu­ition of Aoife, Cian and Eimear and have great fun learn­ing.


A 45 Card Game takes place ev­ery Tues­day night in Moneystown Com­mu­nity Cen­tre start­ing at a new time of 8.30 p.m. for the sum­mer months tea served.
