Bal­loon burst in sup­port of Robert

THE com­mu­nity of south Wick­low came out in force in Tinahely on Mon­day for a novel fundraiser in sup­port of Robert Nolan, who is bat­tling his way back to health fol­low­ing a Lyme Dis­ease di­ag­no­sis.

The event took place out­side Mur­phy’s Ho­tel and saw a whop­ping 57 bal­loons burst, each con­tain­ing an ex­cit­ing prize for a lucky ticket holder. A to­tal of 55 prizes were do­nated by lo­cal spon­sors and the fi­nal two prizes were cash amounts of €250.

The lucky win­ners of the two top €250 prizes were Bernie Nolan, Carnew, and Teresa Dempsey, Coolkenno. There was great ex­cite­ment as the fi­nal cash prize was in the very last bal­loon burst, keep­ing ev­ery­one on their toes.

Or­gan­iser Úna Somers But­ler thanked ev­ery­one who sup­ported the fundraiser and said that she was de­lighted to an­nounce that the €5,000 event tar­get was reached and this will be do­nated to Robert’s go­ campaign.

She said that ev­ery­body wanted to show sup­port for Robert who is a lo­cal man and she wished him well in his re­cov­ery.
