Philip to host two classes

AS 2018 WRITER in res­i­dence at Farm­leigh House, Bray writer Philip St John will be giv­ing two free play­writ­ing work­shops there in Septem­ber.

The par­tic­i­pants will have their plays work­shopped by Philip at the first work­shop – and, af­ter rewrit­ing – their plays will be work­shopped and given a script in hand per­for­mance by pro­fes­sional ac­tors un­der the guid­ance of di­rec­tor Matthew Ralli (of Speck­in­time).

Each play will be of around five to seven min­utes du­ra­tion.

The work­shops are de­signed for writ­ers rel­a­tively new to drama. Ap­pli­ca­tions are open un­til Au­gust 13. The plays can be sub­mit­ted to­ran@, on the theme ‘first’. It could be about a first love, a first time in a cer­tain lo­ca­tion, a first day at a new job – what­ever the writer de­cides. The play should be no longer than seven pages and prefer­ably have a small cast.

In the email, in­clude your name, email ad­dress and mo­bile phone num­ber as well as any writ­ing ex­pe­ri­ence and why you would like to take part.

The first class takes place on Septem­ber 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The sec­ond on Septem­ber 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and in­clude the per­for­mances.
