Philip to host two classes
AS 2018 WRITER in residence at Farmleigh House, Bray writer Philip St John will be giving two free playwriting workshops there in September.
The participants will have their plays workshopped by Philip at the first workshop – and, after rewriting – their plays will be workshopped and given a script in hand performance by professional actors under the guidance of director Matthew Ralli (of Speckintime).
Each play will be of around five to seven minutes duration.
The workshops are designed for writers relatively new to drama. Applications are open until August 13. The plays can be submitted to linda.moran@ opw.ie, on the theme ‘first’. It could be about a first love, a first time in a certain location, a first day at a new job – whatever the writer decides. The play should be no longer than seven pages and preferably have a small cast.
In the email, include your name, email address and mobile phone number as well as any writing experience and why you would like to take part.
The first class takes place on September 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The second on September 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include the performances.
