Fund­ing for ‘Where in Wick­low’ pro­ject

A CO WICK­LOW ini­tia­tive is among 13 projects to have se­cured fund­ing un­der the De­part­ment of Ru­ral and Com­mu­nity De­vel­op­ment’s Dig­i­tal In­no­va­tion Pro­gramme.

In­tro­duced this year, the pro­gramme pro­vides fund­ing for orig­i­nal and in­no­va­tive lo­cal author­ity-led dig­i­tal projects, al­low­ing them to be pi­loted be­fore they are scaled up or repli­cated else­where in the coun­try.

The sum of €4,800 has been al­lo­cated to ‘Where in Wick­low’, a pro­ject which helps the pub­lic to ac­cess ex­ist­ing, emerg­ing and de­vel­op­ing dig­i­tal ser­vices be­ing pro­vided by Wick­low County Coun­cil via in­ter­ac­tive touch­screen tech­nol­ogy. It is hoped the ‘Where in Wick­low’ In­ter­ac­tive Pub­lic In­for­ma­tion Por­tal will be­come a fo­cal point for the pub­lic to in­ter­act with lo­cal author­ity dig­i­tal ser­vices and on­line sup­ports and to ac­cess in­for­ma­tion. Ser­vices re­ferred to in­clude plan­ning ap­pli­ca­tions and in­for­ma­tion, Cen­sus data, lo­ca­tion of lo­cal fa­cil­i­ties, recre­ational and tourist lo­ca­tion and de­tails, de­vel­op­ment plans and land zon­ing map­ping, etc.

Projects are also be­ing funded in Galway city, Done­gal, Dublin city, Sligo, Of­faly, Kerry, Tip­per­ary, Fin­gal, Mayo and West­meath.
