Woman re­mains in hos­pi­tal fol­low­ing Sun­day road crash

A ROAD around Balt­in­glass re­mained closed for a time on Mon­day morn­ing fol­low­ing a se­ri­ous road ac­ci­dent on Sun­day evening.

The two car col­li­sion oc­curred at ap­prox­i­mately 6 p.m. on the R747 at Kil­mur­ray Lower, be­tween Balt­in­glass and Kil­te­gan.

The driver of one of the cars, a fe­male in aged in her 40s, was taken to Naas Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal and later trans­ferred to Beau­mont Hos­pi­tal with in­juries de­scribed as se­ri­ous.

Two fe­male pas­sen­gers in the car, aged in their 70s and seven years old were taken to hospitals in Naas and Tal­laght.

The sole oc­cu­pant of the sec­ond car, a fe­male aged in her 50s, was also taken to Naas Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal.

Their in­juries are not thought to be life threat­en­ing.

The scene was pre­served overnight for ex­am­i­na­tion by Garda Foren­sic Col­li­sion In­ves­ti­ga­tors and lo­cal traf­fic di­ver­sions re­mained in place un­til af­ter 10.30 a.m. un­til ex­am­i­na­tions wer com­pleted.
