Big boost for steeple fund
A FUNDRAISING campaign to cover the cost of vital maintenance works on the steeple at St Saviour’s Church, Arklow is gaining momentum following a very successful 800 draw.
The big draw took place on Friday evening in St Saviour’s Church Hall and drew a great crowd, eager to support the fund and see who the lucky winners would be.
As just 800 tickets were sold, there was a great chance of picking up a prize. The draw raised a grand total of €14,800 which is a good starting point for the tower repair works which are estimated to cost in the region of €70,000. Prize winners were as follows: Lily Foxall, Margaret Reeves, John Byrne, Phyllis Foxton, Aidan O’Connor, Maureen Kelly, Olive Nuzum Carroll, Margaret Evans, Paul McDowell, Francis Naughton, Veitch Smyth, Mel Smyth and Heather Darby.
Last week also saw a successful coffee morning take place at The Midway which raised €621. Thanks are extended to John and Noeline for the use of their premises.
