Com­mu­nity Games awards at St Pa­trick’s

BBKR held their an­nual awards night in St Pa­trick’s GAA Club On Satur­day as nearly 200 chil­dren re­ceived medals.

MC for the night was Colm Fitz­patrick. Deputy An­drew Doyle was in at­ten­dance, as he has for the past num­ber of years. He also paid spe­cial trib­ute to Jimmy O’Shaugh­nessy who hasn’t missed the awards night in over 20 years.

Some of the awards were pre­sented by mem­bers of Wick­low County Board along Mary Brett Kelly, former Na­tional Pres­i­dent Ge­orge O’Toole, Jimmy O’Shaugh­nessy, Deputy Doyle and Cllr Shay Cullen.

It was the first time at­tend­ing for Min­is­ter of Health, Si­mon Har­ris, who com­mended the com­mit­tee on the amount of hard work in­volved in or­gan­is­ing such an event for close to 200 chil­dren. He also spoke of the ben­e­fits of chil­dren’s in­volve­ment in the Com­mu­nity Games, es­pe­cially from a health and fit­ness per­spec­tive.

The Coney Award was pre­sented to Zoe Wil­son, while the Heather­ing­ton Me­mo­rial was awarded to Hugh Fen­nessy. The O’Donoghue Par­tic­i­pa­tion Tro­phy award went to Sean O’Donoghue.

The night fin­ished with a disco, which was the high­light for many of the young Com­mu­nity Games par­tic­i­pants.
