Non-dis­play of tax disc Mo­tor­ing of­fences

A Shankill woman ex­plained that there was dif­fi­culty with pa­per­work re­lat­ing to road tax be­fore she was fined €75 at Ark­low District Court.

Mary Naughton of 216 Shanganagh Cliffs was charged with the non-dis­play of a tax disc at Bal­ly­ro­gan Lower, Ark­low on De­cem­ber 13, 2016 and Fe­bru­ary 16, 2017.

The court heard that the de­fen­dant is en­ti­tled to free road tax due to her husband’s dis­abil­ity as she is his driver.

She said that there was a dif­fi­culty in pro­cess­ing the pa­per­work as mod­i­fi­ca­tions must be made to the ve­hi­cle.

There were no pre­vi­ous con­vic­tions.

An Aughrim man who drove with­out a li­cence or in­sur­ance was fined a to­tal of €600 at Ark­low District Court last Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 8.

Alan Hickey of 16 Croghan View was stopped on the Vale Road, Ark­low, on June 7, 2017.

A fine of €500 was handed down for hav­ing no in­sur­ance, along with a two year driv­ing ban, while a fine of €200 was im­posed for the no li­cence charge.
