Glenmalure fundraiser run a great success

- BY DEBORAH COLEMAN

THERE was plenty of excitement in Glenmalure recently as the Ballinacor Camogie Club 4 mile relay, 5k family walk and 24 hour stationary cycle took place to raise funds for the club.

Approximately 100 participants signed up to take part in the events which brought great activity to the Glenmalure Lodge where each stage commenced from. Serious athletes from across Co Wicklow finished the relay in no time, while families, novice runners and those who simply wanted to stroll in the warm sunshine finished the 5k walk without time pressure.

Back at the starting line a group of dedicated volunteers manned the stationary bicycles where they kept the wheels turning faithfully for 24 hours.

‘There was a great atmosphere and we held steady with numbers on this our third year,’ said Dora Burke of Ballinacor Camogie Club.

Dora extended thanks for everyone who took part and who supported the fundraiser.
