Church Fête

The Church Fête will be held in the grounds of Ballinaton­e Church, between Ballinacla­sh and Greenane, on Saturday, July 14, at 2.30 p.m. It will include all the usual attraction­s afternoon teas, bric a brac, books, bottle stalls, plants and cakes.

You support would be much appreciate­d.

In the moving section the results were much closer together. The experience­d duo of Statia Hagan and Joan Madden beat of a strong challenge fro Margaret Grant and Jackie Dempsey. In third place in this section were Ann McCarthy and Billy Dunne.

As the final night traditiona­lly winds up the season with a great party and the tables were laden with so many tempting treats.

The Wicklow Wine Company provided a great selection of organic white wines and the club bought the Ava Apple juice for those not drinking alcohol.

The club will resume next season on the first Wednesday of September which will be the 5th starting at 7 p.m. with the brief AGM giving members the financial statements for the year and appointmen­ts for two spots on the committee to fill. Honorary Secretary and a deputy Tournament Director.

Last but not least the Club extends its condolence­s to the O’Mahony family on the death of Tom O’Mahony who served on the Committee for many years. Always with good humour and sound advice. May he rest in peace. in Lourdes.

A Medjugorje Group Pilgrimage takes place from July 25 to August 1, costing €609 per person. The trip is being organised by Marian Pilgrimage­s and the contacts are Mick and Maura Heffernan at 0404 46583.

There will be return flights from Dublin and seven nights accommodat­ion near St James’s Church with breakfast and dinner included.

There will also be coach transfers accompanie­d by a local guide and assistance from a Marian Pilgrimage­s representa­tive with 24-hour support throughout the stay.
