SADIE FITZGERALD has been selected as the winner of the Music category.
As the only remaining founder member of Arklow
Music Festival, Sadie has dedicated five decades to the popular annual event which draws thousands of visitors to Arklow every spring.
The festival is second in size only to the national
Fleadh Cheoil, has been of huge importance to Arklow’s economy and musical culture over many years and has discovered some of the country’s finest performers.
An only child who had 12 children of her own, Sadie is adored by her family. She has been a wonderful mother and home-maker her whole life and was devoted to her husband Eddie, to whom she was married for 66 years when he passed away in 2017.
Sadie has always been a very active person and has been a Minister of the Word in her local parish for 51 years.
Even at the age of 89, she still loves to travel and has recently been to Scotland and is looking forward to a family trip to Portugal soon.
Known as ‘Sadie Lady’ to her beloved family, Sadie is also grandmother of 32 and has 27 great grandchildren.
