HEALTH AWARD John O’Reilly
JOHN O’REILLY from Dunlavin is to receive the Health award.
Described as an ‘unsung hero’ of the Dunlavin community, John has dedicated much time and energy to various local organisations including Dunlavin & District Forum which he was involved in establishing, The Irish Red Cross Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue, Dunlavin Community First Responders and Wicklow Cardiac First Responders.
Since 2006, he has been involved in the training of every Wicklow Community First Responder member and also supported Castleblaney CFR in setting up in 2016.
John has also given much time to giving demonstrations and workshops at community events.
During the ‘80s, John supported the Irish Heart Foundation Happy Heart initiative by travelling all over Ireland for 18 months giving CPR training in halls, back rooms of pubs, houses etc.
John is never too busy to help out if needed and he has selflessly made himself available on countless occasions over many years, for the good of others.
He also made his 100th blood donation recently, for which he received his 100 Times Donor Award from the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.
