Lip Sync Legends prepare to do battle ENJOYING THE ARTS IN WICKLOW
FUNDRAISER IN ARKLOW THIS WEEKEND IN AID OF THREE LOCAL GROUPS
THIS Saturday night at the Arklow Bay Hotel, the culmination of months of work by a group of volunteers will come to fruition, with the first ever Arklow Lip Sync Legends event taking place.
Twelve acts have been undergoing a rigorous training programme with professional choreographers, and will take to the stage in aid of Arklow United Football Club, Arklow Community Action Resource Centre and Arklow Cancer Support.
The fundraiser is part of Arklow United FC’s 40th anniversary celebrations, and proceeds of the event will go towards grounds development at Ferndale Park, with a proportion divided equally between the two local charities.
‘The club has been growing phenomenally over the past number of years, and we need to continue to invest in development of our facilities to keep up with demand. This event is made possible by the generosity of the local businesses who have come on board through sponsorship, particularly Topline Boland’s Arklow, our main event sponsor,’ said Gordon Moules from Arklow United FC.
Prize money of €1,000 is up for grabs for the winning act, which will be selected through a combination of audience and judges’ votes. The judging panel will include local pro dancer Laura Gannon, of Laura’s Health and Dance Fitness, journalist and broadcaster Valerie Cox, best-selling author Adele O’Neill and acclaimed Irish Tenor Ross Scanlon.
A limited number of tickets are available from TRTV on Main Street in Arklow and each of the acts are accepting sponsorship. For more details call 086 1633253.
