Avon­dale Gardening Club apol­o­gise for the ab­sence of their reg­u­lar talks these last few months. They start back on Oc­to­ber 18 at 8 p.m. in the usual venue ‘Ja­cobs Well’ in the func­tion room on the ground floor on Main Street, Rath­drum.

Sara Rubal­cava’s talk will in­clude Sus­tain­able Gardening, be­ing more en­vi­ron­men­tally aware and how peo­ple can help sup­port bio­di­ver­sity, bees, in­sects etc. in their gar­dens and com­mu­nity spa­ces.

Sara will also give the pub­lic and the mem­bers news of her up and com­ing free eight week work­shops on all of the above top­ics.

Those present who are in­ter­ested will have the op­por­tu­nity to sign up for these free work­shops. They will start in April 2019. More in­for­ma­tion will be re­layed on the night.

What to do in your gar­den this month will also be dis­cussed and there will be plenty of time to share your gardening dis­as­ters and successes and share ad­vice and give ad­vice as al­ways.

Tea/cof­fee will be served af­ter the talk at around 9 30 p.m. be­fore the evening ends. The gen­eral pub­lic are in­vited to join the club for this talk.

The dis­tance is 4km and will take ap­prox­i­mately 1.5 to two hours. The start time is 2 p.m. with regis­tra­tion at 1.30 p.m.

Walk C will be a very easy, flat walk along the Green Road and this walk is wheel­chair friendly.

The dis­tance is 1km and will take no longer than one hour. The start time is 2 p.m., with regis­tra­tion at 1.30 p.m.

Good walk­ing gear is re­quired for all routes.

All three walks start at the up­per lake car park and will take place re­gard­less of the weather. There is a €4 charge per car for the car park

Lak­ers So­cial and Recre­ational Club is a com­mu­nity-based sports, so­cial and recre­ation club for chil­dren and adults with an in­tel­lec­tual dis­abil­ity.

The club pro­vides a wide range of sport­ing and ed­u­ca­tional ser­vices to its 360 mem­bers aged 5 to 75.
