Wick­low duo play part in Foxrock Cabin­teely’s Le­in­ster suc­cess

TWO Wick­low foot­ballers helped Foxrock Cabin­teely to their fourth suc­ces­sive Le­in­ster Ladies Se­nior Foot­ball crown in Kin­negad on Sun­day af­ter­noon.

For­mer Éire Óg stars and cur­rent Wick­low stal­warts Lorna Fus­cia­rdi and Lau­rie Ah­ern played their parts in the con­vinc­ing 4-11 to 1-8 vic­tory over Sars­fields of Laois.

Fus­cia­rdi started the game in the half­back line be­fore be­ing re­placed by Roisin Mc­Gov­ern. Ah­ern started on the bench but was in­tro­duced in place of corner-for­ward Han­nah O’Neill.

It was their Cap­tain Fan­tas­tic Amy Ring who scored 2-4 to help de­cide the out­come of this game.

A de­ter­mined and gritty Fox-Cab dom­i­nated the early stages, tak­ing a 0-5 to no score lead with points from Tarah O’Sul­li­van, Han­nah O’Neill and three from the boot of in­spi­ra­tional skip­per Ring.

Fox-Cab were do­ing all the dam­age and were res­o­lute in de­fence with Dublin’s TG4 All-Ire­land Se­nior win­ners Han­nah O’Neill and Amy Connolly mov­ing the ball well for the reign­ing cham­pi­ons who even­tu­ally stormed to a fully de­served vic­tory to se­cure the Bill Daly Cup.

Fox-Cab march into the All-Ire­land semi-fi­nals, where they will face Mon­aghan and Ul­ster cham­pi­ons Don­agh­moyne over the week­end of Novem­ber 17/18.
