Im­pres­sive medal haul for Ea­gle Mar­tial Arts stu­dents

A TEAM of stu­dents from Ea­gle Mar­tial Arts, com­peted at the WKC World Kick­box­ing Cham­pi­onships last week.

The an­nual event which took place over five days was held in Ire­land this year in City West Ho­tel, Dublin.

Ea­gle Mar­tial Arts had seven fighters com­pete at the champi- on­ships and the over­all medal haul was 11 medals , three gold medals, four sil­ver medals and four bronze.

Stu­dents com­peted against fighters from USA, Canada, Eng­land, Ger­many and North­ern Ire­land.

The World Cham­pi­onship gold medals went to 12-year-old Paddy Harper in 40kg Light con­tact, 12-year-old Ricardo Whe­lan, in 45kg Point Fight­ing, and to 13-year-old Lewis Tem­ple, 50kg Light Con­tact. 32 points; Cat 3: (16-20) 1st - Ed­die Ma­son (19) 31 points, 2nd - Don­n­cha O’Reilly (16) 31 points; Cat 4: (21-28) 1st - Ken Loughran (21) 34 points, 2nd - Pat Sta­ple­ton (22) 30 points.

All stu­dents train in Ark­low and Bray un­der their coach/trainer Julie McHale, who is a for­mer World and Euro­pean kick­box­ing cham­pion . O’Don­nell (22) 42 points; 2nd Cyril Vick­ers (20) 42 points; 3rd Paul Corry (15) 41 points; 4th Ray Nolan (3) 40 points.
